Private Space Investigators - Devlog #4: Returning to the project
Current progress
Welcome back to the PSI devlogs! I've been away for a bit as I've been starting a new job and being ill. I'm back to it and working on moving past the prototype phase after some testing, with some major bugs being identified and fixed. I've also spent some time reworking the rooms that currently exist and adding some more to add a bit of variance to the generation, I'll be expanding upon these further as time goes on. Currently I've also spent some time refining the base alien AI, this is still being worked on at the minute, adding behaviours such as hiding from players when on low health, stalking players and trying to stay out of sight, etc.
Next steps
My next steps will be to carry on working on the AI of the alien and adding more complex behaviours, this will also mean adding new state trees with different behaviours that will be assigned to different aliens. After this run I will be moving to working on the player systems, adding an inventory and the ability to store salvage then sell it. This will feed into the meta progression systems that will be implemented later on, including company upgrades, player upgrades, more difficult missions, etc.
I'm hoping to make more regular logs again from now, with more videos and more in-depth information on how I am implementing certain mechanics or systems, the goal being that I have all of the systems in the game in August with development after spent on expanding on content and bug fixing.
